Horticulture Excursion
As part of their Horticulture studies and in alignment with the Years 9 and 10 Science curriculum, students will participate in Carbon Futures—an immersive environmental education program designed to explore the vital role of carbon in ecosystems and its connection to climate change.
Through hands-on learning and scientific inquiry, students will deepen their understanding of the carbon cycle, with a particular focus on the essential functions of plants, trees, and soil in carbon storage and exchange. The program will also examine the impacts of climate change on biodiversity, highlighting the challenges faced by plant and animal species in changing environments.
Students will be encouraged to critically evaluate horticultural practices and consider innovative approaches to support environmental sustainability. By integrating scientific knowledge with practical horticulture, Carbon Futures empowers students to become informed stewards of the natural world.
